Film director to 3M+ bottles…

Rocca delle Macìe winery is situated in Castellina in Chianti, almost in the centre of Chianti Classico. The proprietor is Sergio Zingarelli who is also the president of the Consorzio Chianti Classico.

Rocca delle Macìe was purchased by the late Italo Zingarelli in 1973. I could easily devote many paragraphs to this extraordinary man, boxer, stuntman, film director, etc., but let’s get back on track…

Sergio Zingarelli took charge of the estate in 1989. From its original 93 hectares (of which only 2 hectares were vineyard) a further 500 hectares has been added resulting to 200 hectares under vine.

These new sites show an investment in diverse terroirs: Le Macìe followed by Sant’ Alfonso, Fizzano and Le Tavolelle. In addition to the Campo Maccione and Casa Maria estates in the Morellino di Scansano area in Maremma.

Rocca delle Macìe is a major player in the Tuscan wine scene producing 3.1 million bottles per annum and a further 600,000 bottles under collaboration.
