Top Wines of 2019

Comparing wines from different denominations and making a list in order of preference is remarkably difficult and unnecessary…Unless you are selling magazines or your website!

In true wine critic tradition I have decided to continue making a list of the wines I most enjoyed this past year.

My list is not based on price, denomination or points given…it is based on WOW factor!

1) Montevertine Toscana IGT Le Pergole Torte 2016

2) Siro Pacenti BDM Vecchie Vigne 2015

3) Canalicchio di Sopra BDM Casaccia 2015

4) San Polino BDM Helichrysum 2015

5) Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri Sassicaia 2013

6) La Spinetta Barolo Vursu Vigneto Campe 2015

7) Elio Grasso Barolo Gavarini Chiniera 2015

8) Produttori del Barbaresco Pora Riserva DOCG 2015

9) G.D. Vajra Barolo Ravera 2015

10) Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG Colledilá 2016

11) Castello di Volpaia Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG Coltassala 2016

12) Castello di Albola Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Santa Caterina 2016

13) Allegrini Limited Edition La Grolla 2015

N.B. 13 is my favoured number!

I would like to thank all the proprietors, winemakers, enologists, enoteche, sommeliers and all my wine friends who have contributed to making my year in Italy a truly unbelievable and unforgettable experience.
