Comparing wines from different denominations and making a list in order of preference is remarkably difficult and unnecessary… unless you are selling magazines or have a website!
In true wine critic tradition I have decided to continue making a list of the wines I most enjoyed this past year.
My list is not based on price, denomination or points given... It is based on WOW factor!
1) Castello di Ama Vigneto Bellavista Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2016
2) Il Marroneto Madonna delle Grazie Brunello di Montalcino 2015
3) Salvioni La Cerbaiola Brunello di Montalcino 2015
4) Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino 2016
5) Castello di Ama San Lorenzo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2018
6) Casanova di Neri Cerretalto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015
7) Castello di Brolio Roncicone Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2016
8) Giodo Brunello di Montalcino 2015
9) Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino 2015
10) Talenti Piero Brunello di Montalcino 2015
11) Antinori Castello della Sala Cervaro 2017
12) Felsina Colonia Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2016
13) Fontodi Vigna del Sorbo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2016
N.B. '13' wines are listed as it is my favourite number!
This past year due of travel restrictions I have not had the opportunity to visit as many wineries as I would have liked to.
For now, I thank my wine friends old and new, for giving me the opportunity to taste the wines I have reviewed this year.
Let’s hope 2021 will not be as difficult for us all.
